ACDS Dental

The Aurora Children’s Dental Service is a non-profit organization that provides free dental care to children in need.  By providing these necessary services we solve the child’s short term dental needs and hopefully start them on the path to a life time of good oral health.

Our services

Since September of 1954, this service has been available to those children in grades K through 12 who do not have access to dental insurance.  We provide a wide range of dental services, generally treating those children in need of urgent care.  While we do not have sufficient funding to provide preventative care on a stand alone basis, services such as cleanings and fluoride treatments will also be provided along with the restorative treatment (such as fillings, root canals, etc).   There is no charge to the parent.  The treatment is funded entirely by our organization.

Our members & funding

Our membership consists of all Aurora Junior Woman’s Club members.  While we have separate state charters and boards, all members work together for the common goals of both organizations. Children are referred to us through school dental screenings and screenings we provide at the annual Back to School Fair.

The success of our program has been our ability to cultivate and maintain relationships with the local school districts for referrals and with a group of dentists who are willing to accept reduced fees.

Our funding comes from our annual children’s play, and a fall fundraiser which are jointly sponsored by Aurora Junior Woman’s Club, and through grants from several area foundations.  We ask all our ACDS members to assist with the fundraisers and Back to School Fair screenings.   While each member may join our organization with a different purpose in mind, everyone understands that our main objective is to try to accomplish something for the good our community and we have lots of fun along the way!

If you feel you would like to apply for assistance under our program, we have made that available to you in both English and Spanish.  If accepted into the program, you will be notified with the name, address and phone number for the dentist your child has been assigned to.
